Exciting news!
I recently completed a 40-hour EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) training and am now EMDR-informed as I move through the next phase of consultation. This means I'm actively using EMDR-informed approaches in sessions and continuing to grow my skills through supervised practice.
If you've heard of EMDR, you might associate it with rapid processing and big emotional breakthroughs. And while that can be part of the journey, EMDR is much more than just bilateral stimulation. It's a structured, phased approach to healing trauma, anxiety, and other emotional distress.
In the beginning stages, we focus on resourcing-building internal tools for regulation, safety, and stability. We also spend time target mapping, which means identifying the experiences or themes that are most important to address. Only when you're ready do we move into processing with bilateral stimulation, and that often happens several weeks in.
I'm excited to integrate this powerful modality into my work and honored to support my clients through this process.
